Are you an actor needing a headshot? Don’t waste your time and money. Make sure you ask these 8 questions to photographers before choosing one.
Being a Good Photographer Doesn’t Make You a Great Headshot Photographer
There are many good photographers taking headshots and commercial photos to help actors and models create a strong portfolio.
Good headshot photographers know how to take good pictures. But, that is not who you want to hire.
You want to work with a headshot photographer who knows how to take an effective headshot.
is a big difference between a photographer who knows how to take great photos and a photographer who know how to create an effective headshot.
An effective headshot will not only save you a lot of time and money, but it will also give you your best chance for success.
What is An Effective Headshot
An effective headshot is one that grabs the attention of agents, casting directors and other industry professionals. These photographers know how to find the essence of the actor and capture it in the photo. Those are the photographers you want to find.
How to Find a Great Headshot Photographer
You want to ask the photographer these 8 questions:
- How do you see me being cast
- Will you shoot on location or is everything done in the studio
- Would the photographer suggest any agents for you to contact
- What is the fee for the session and how many wardrobe changes will that include
- Is a makeup artist included in the headshot fee
- Will the photographer do any retouching and if so are there fees for that service
- Will the photographer look at the photos and give you his/her top choices
- Make sure you feel comfortable and can relax while working with the photographer
