The 1 Biggest Acting Reel Mistake Actors Make
The 1 biggest acting reel mistake actors make is not knowing how long the reel should be.
Some actors like to “show off” and cram a ton of clips into their reel. They think that showing how much work they have done will impress agents and casting directors. The problem with that is
that people won’t watch most of the clips.
The 1 Biggest Acting Reel Mistake Is The Length of the Reel
Industry professionals won’t watch much longer than 1 minute, maybe up to 90 seconds
of an actor’s reel. They just don’t have the time. So, actors should carefully think
about what represents them the best and only show those clips. Less is more!
How to Get Material For Your Actor’s Reel
If you don’t have any clips, or you need more, here are 4 suggestions on
ways to get additional footage.
1. Contact a local college’s film professor and audition for a student film
2. Find filmmaking Facebook Group pages
3. Check out wifv.org (Women In Film And Television) and find others who are interested in filmmaking
4. Find others in your area and create your own film
