Some actors make a huge mistake on their acting resume.

If you haven’t done many acting jobs then list the classes
you have taken on your resume as well as the instructor/school.

This information will make the difference between getting
a chance to audition or not being considered.

I was recently asked to help find actors for a training film. The talent
needed to be teleprompter proficient.

After looking at everyone’s head shot to make sure they looked
right for the role, I read their resume.

Your Resume

There were some actors who did not have much experience.
That was fine with me. Next, I looked at their training.

If they took classes with teachers or institutions I respected,
then I invited them to audition.

If not, I didn’t want to take a chance of having them send the client
a bad audition. It would be a poor reflection on me. So,
they were not invited to audition.

Other Resume Mistakes

Make sure your special skills are accurate. If you are
teleprompter proficient, make sure it is listed.

Be very clear with your special skills listings.

Don’t just list: Acting Class.
Make it specific. Let people know what type of class.
Was it an Improv, acting for the camera, acting for film
and television, acting for TV commercial class?

That holds true for other special skills. Don’t just list
dance as a special skill. Let people know specifically, what type
of dance. Hip hop, ballet, jazz, tango, etc… The more specific
the more helpful the information will be to casting directors.

Doing this also let’s them know you really understand the skill you
listed.
