What You Should and Never Wear to an Audition
Some actors will wear anything to an audition. They don’t want to look desperate, so, instead of looking the part, they wear whatever they want for the audition.
They think that the casting director knows what a doctor looks like, and they only want to see if you can act.
I am not necessarily thinking of a doctor when I see this wardrobe.
Another philosophy is to dress the part. This allows the casting director
and director to immediately think of you in that role.
Looking the part can also be helpful if you are reading for a TV commercial. Even if the casting director, art and creative director from the ad agency
and the director can imagine you as a doctor – even with a Hawaiian shirt on, perhaps the client might not have that type of imagination.
The most important thing is not to insult a casting director. Don’t over dress.
