This Can Be Devastating – and it Happened to Me

November 21, 2019 0 Comments

I recently had a few companies ask me to help them find actors and models for various projects. I ran into a devastating situation and I want to make sure it does not happen to you.

Things can get so frustrating at times

Tried Reaching Out

Actors and models on my mailing list who were right for the roles, received audition emails. A few actors I knew never responded. This surprised me, so I called to find out why. They told me that they never received my email .

This is a time when it was fun blowing up and feeling confused

Shocked

This information shocked and confused me. I never received an email stating that the email bounced. To do a quick test, while I was on the phone with the actor, I sent her an email. It still never arrived.

I spent hours contacting my email provider, web site host and the company used to send out emails. All confirmed the emails were sent and arrived properly.

Fixing the Problem

Here is what happened. The only people not receiving my emails had a Comcast account. A Comcast, technician explained the emails were not delivered because my address was not white listed. So, they blocked my emails from reaching the actors and models.

Then I spent a lot of time with Comcast. Here is what I found.

The technician said the signature in my email might have caused the problem. A photo and links in the signature could cause issues. I have a number of links below my head shot such as:
IMDB
Facebook
Instagram
Mentoring Program
LinkedIn
Twitter

I filled out online forms, explained that I only send emails to those who request them and did a few tests with Comcast technicians. Finally, I got white listed again. Now my emails are reaching everyone who uses Comcast.

So, if you have a signature in your email, (which you need) you might want to test it out with a number of different people who use various email services to make sure they are being reached properly.
