How Long Should a Promotional Model Work Before Taking a Break

September 18, 2013 0 Comments

From Natalie, TN:

I sometimes do promotional modeling and have just finished an assignment. My question is how long should you be expected to stand without a break?

Dear Natalie:

That is a very good question. When I have worked at trade shows, I always ask about the salary, working hours and break time. It is really important to be able to take breaks. Especially if you are wearing a costume or holding items that are awkward and or heavy. You must be able to take breaks on a regular basis. Depending on the situation, I would like to be able to take a short break at least every 2-3 hours.

Before the next job, make sure you have things very clear as to how long you will work, and when you can take breaks throughout the day. It is always best to get these agreements in writing so there are no questions about what you agreed upon before accepting the booking.

Take care.
