  1. Would You Accept This Job? ~ VLOG | October 29, 2015

Also I turned down a commercial audition for a fast food restaurant. As a vegan I didn’t feel comfortable biting into a chicken sandwich. Yuck. Besides that I did not want to support killing animals for food. My agent didn’t like my refusal and said I could bite and spit. Still, no.

Like you, I prefer not to be associated with something horrible as the child molester ad you mentioned. As far as cigarettes, that would be a big no for me too. And of course as I told you in my email, no porn scenes or anything that I believe would embarrass my kids.

I think it is so important that you stand my your convictions. This is your life and you need to live it in the way you feel most comfortable.
      Congratulations on your decisions.

  2. Thanks Aaron. This is great stuff! Appreciate the time you take to make these videos to give us great tips!

  3. Aaron, first of all thanks for publishing your thoughts on this topic. Your original discussion thread seemed to imply that the named actor declined the job in question because they weren’t crazy about the genera, but you’d also described the compensation as ‘extremely lucrative’.

In my mind there’s a dichotomy between a moral or a branding conflict, vs a simple ‘I’m not crazy about these types of films’ conflict. I would prioritize the decision based on the following:

    1- Moral or ethical conflict
    2- Monetary compensation
3- Personal interest in the type of project

I’d suggest that if the top two were intact, the third is less important. Agree? Disagree?

…I’m really torn about the ‘guilt by association’ dilemma though. If I did a porn scene in a movie, my kids would probably so weirded out by it they’d never WANT to watch it anyway. Gosh, that would be awkward, but hey, the money you make from that pays for their livelihood. Tough concept to struggle with. IMO.

Thanks for the note Jonathan. Yes, the actor was saying that even though he was offered a crazy amount of money for the project, still, he did not want to work on that type of film.

It is true, sometimes we have to make big and tough decisions.

Thanks so much for your thoughts.
      Aaron
